We only have direct quotes in Kovol. There are quote margins that mark the speaker. They are used before, after, and sometimes even within the quote. They are needed before and after the quote (with some possible exceptions). The quotation can actually be a paraphrase sometimes. Speakers are kept straight in quotations by the quote margins. Vocatives can be used for emphasis, but are not necessary to keep speakers and participants straight.
