Head-amplification

Last updated: Dec. 16, 2025

Definition

The second of two units either assumes or repeats the content of the first, adding some extra detail.

The amplification communicates or assumes some of the information in the head and then adds further information. The additional information may clarify participants, time, location or manner.

Degree of confidence

Low

We really struggle to see any patterns worth describing. It's just head and then amplification.

Repeating the final verb is the same hypothesis as for Generic-specific, Equivalence and Additive.
